I plan on ordering a spare fob through eBay and have it programmed with a locksmith. I hear it's a lot less expensive doing it that way.

I have a 2000 Land Rover Disco II that needs a new key fob. Atlantic British has the fob, but my problem is finding a locksmith with a launch scanner or similar tool to program it. (Dealerships will not touch such an old model.) By any chance, does anyone know of such a locksmith in the Detroit, MI, metropolitan area?

I only had one key with the car (L494) I ordered a new fob, this came with a new module, both keys need programming to the new module, you can't program new key to old module. Hatfields told me this. I'm ringing a guy who may be able to program both keys to the new module. I'll keep you posted.

What experiences have people had with replacing their lost spare key fob? ( besides going to dealer)
2024 Range Rover Sport
Thank you
I recently lost or realized I lost one of the fobs to mine, so I started looking into replacements. The dealer cost is absurd. I've talked to a couple local locksmiths that have the correct tool to reprogram the key but couldn't get an exact quote and just that it could be $85-195 to program the key (the price range had something to do with how much time it would take or something that could make it more difficult but they couldn't tell me until they were actually programming it). As far as the fob itself, I've looked at them on Amazon, AliExpress, Temu, etc., just haven't decided which source to purchase from. One thing to look out for if you buy one from one of those sources or another reseller is to ensure that you are getting the complete key and not just the shell / case. There are a lot of them for sale that are just the shell or case and don't have the circuitry. Shouldn't run you any more than $30, and you can probably source them for as little as $15.
