My 2012 RR Sport SC has been giving me trouble for about a year now. Last year it would periodically have a long crank at start up. for a few days, then go away. It was fine for months, then came back. Long story short, this is what I have replaced.
In tank fuel pump
2 mechanical fuel pumps on engine.
spark plugs
#1 coil
fuel rail pressure sensor
fuel control box(can't think of the actual name)
Took it to Land Rover dealership in Boulder, spent $600 for them to guess.. they thought maybe the fuel pump chain was bad, wanted $5000 to go further..
So that's where Im at. I have a car soft code reader, and when I erase the codes it runs fine for a bit. I would say as things heat up it all gets worse and the time between resetting the faults diminishes. When it's ice cold it'll go for 50-60 miles, when hot it gets down to 1 mile. LR chain idea doesn't seem to fly since I can reset the codes and drive. At this point the Cats are saying over limit, I think the car is running very rich, maybe washing the cylinders with gas at start up...
Anyone have any ideas? The SC is making a lot of noise now, starting to wonder about it..
Also, this is a rebuilt engine with upgraded parts, crank, head gaskets, timing chain guides etc. Has about 40k on the motor, 90k on the accessories.
