I own a P400e RRS bought from new in January 2021. For three years no faults whatsoever, except that in Winter the car would always run the ICE to warm the car, which I now realise was a fault. At the time I thought it was logical that a hybrid would run the ICE for warming..,but the P400e is equipped with a heater driven by its HV drive battery.
Then last year I started getting spurious error messages: car not in park so will not start, “gearbox fault”, hill descent not available”, “headlight fault” etc. The only remedy has been my iCarSoft V3.0, a life saver which I use to erase the faults.
My local dealer investigated recently and diagnosed the problem as the HV heater, which was not working and was “disturbing” the car’s main computer. For two weeks after the replacement heater was installed the car was fantastic and for the first time ever, heated the cabin in EV mode. Then suddenly the problems returned as before. The car is going back to the dealer as all the work was under warranty.
Will update when I get more news. BTW, the heater is made in Germany by Wabesto and is the HVH 50 or 70, dishing out up to 7 kW.
Before anybody asks I changed my main 12v battery last year, which seemed to improve things for a while. Battery voltage is consistently 14 to 14.5v, which the dealer says is OK.
