Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic: A long way of saying SVR plus bigger body

Land Rover has added a new model to the Range Rover lineup with the high-performance SVAutobiography Dynamic. It's claimed to be the most powerful Range Rover ever thanks to its supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that's borrowed from the Range Rover Sport SVR and Jaguar F-Type R. The potent motor makes 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque and is matched to the ZF's eight-speed automatic transmission. (previously, the top Range Rover engine was a version of the same engine making 510 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque.) Due to its larger body, the SVAutobiography Dynamic is roughly half a second slower to 60 mph than the Sport SVR, at 5.1 seconds. Not bad.

As its name implies, the SVAutobiography Dynamic is more driver-oriented than the way-luxurious SVAutobiography. As such, the model is only available in the standard wheelbase and features revised suspension from Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations division that drops the SUV's height by 0.3 inch. That includes the Dynamic Response system, which uses the air suspension to reduce body roll.

On the outside, the SVAutobiography Dynamic is nearly identical to a regular Range Rover besides the grille, Range Rover badges, and side vents being finished in Graphite Atlas gray. The interior benefits from diamond-quilted leather seats with four choices of contrast stitching. Red accents add some flair to the cabin, while Grand Black veneer can be found on the door casings and dashboard. As a reminder that the model still emphasizes luxury, the pedals, rotary shift controller, and start/stop button feature a knurled finish.

The new model also features all of the latest technology that has made its way to the Range Rover lineup for the 2017 model year, including Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Advanced Tow Assist, and Speed Limiter, which adjusts the cruise control based on speed limit signs.

We have contacted Land Rover to see if this SUV will make it to the US but have not heard back yet. In the UK, the SVAutobiography Dynamic is less expensive than the long-wheelbase SVAutobiography, which runs about $200K here.
